What does this intervention involve?
Background
Suspicious mammographic, US or MRI breast abnormality requiring histological diagnosis.
Procedure
US/stereotactic/MRI-guided needle biopsy. Clip often placed. Duration: 15-30 minutes.
Risks
Hematoma, pain, infection (rare), non-diagnostic result.
Recovery
Immediate return to activities. Results in 3-7 days.
Practical information
Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
