Intraoperative image-guided liver ablation
Destruction of a liver tumor performed in the operating room during surgery, with ultrasound or CT guidance.
Percutaneous renal biopsy
Percutaneous renal tissue sampling for kidney disease diagnosis or tumor characterization.
Port management (check, stripping, fibrin sheath)
Maintenance procedures on a port: patency check, declotting, fibrin sheath removal.
Hepatic arterial catheter/port for intra-arterial chemotherapy
Placement of a catheter or implantable port in the hepatic artery to deliver chemotherapy directly to the liver repeatedly.
Vertebral cementoplasty
Percutaneous injection of surgical cement into a vertebra weakened by a metastasis to relieve pain and consolidate the bone.
Percutaneous hepatic tumor ablation
Percutaneous destruction of a liver tumor using a needle, employing heat (radiofrequency, microwave), cold (cryoablation) or other energies (IRE, laser, HIFU).
Hepatic chemoembolization (TACE)
Injection of chemotherapy directly into the arteries feeding the liver tumor, combined with artery occlusion to concentrate and prolong the treatment effect.
Thyroid biopsy/FNA
Ultrasound-guided cellular or tissue sampling of a thyroid nodule.
Midline placement
Intermediate-length peripheral venous catheter placement in an arm vein.
Percutaneous biliary stone extraction (choledochoscopy)
Percutaneous transhepatic extraction of bile duct stones.
Portal +/- hepatic vein embolization pre-hepatectomy (PVE +/- LVD)
Deliberate occlusion of the portal vein (and sometimes hepatic vein) supplying the liver portion to be surgically removed, to stimulate growth of the remaining liver.
Diagnostic phlebography
Venous imaging by contrast injection to map the venous network and identify obstacles.

What is interventional radiology?
Interventional radiology is a medical specialty that uses medical imaging (CT scan, ultrasound, MRI, fluoroscopy) to guide mini-invasive therapeutic procedures.
Unlike conventional surgery, these interventions are performed through small incisions or via the vascular route, allowing for faster recovery, less pain and shorter hospital stays.
Interventional radiologists treat a wide range of conditions: tumors, vascular malformations, spinal pain, fibroids, biliary obstructions and much more.
Mini-invasive
No heavy surgery, small incisions are enough
Fast recovery
Back to normal life in a few days
Image-guided
CT scan, ultrasound, MRI for maximum precision
Local anesthesia
No general anesthesia in most cases
