What does this intervention involve?
Background
Non-targeted for glomerular/interstitial disease; targeted for tumor characterization.
Procedure
Under US guidance, patient prone, needle inserted into kidney. Duration: 15-30 minutes.
Risks
Perirenal hematoma, gross hematuria, AV fistula.
Recovery
6-hour bed rest. One-night stay. Labs and US next day.
Practical information
Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
