What does this intervention involve?

Background

Cluster headache, chronic migraine, certain facial neuralgias.

Procedure

Fluoroscopy/CT-guided fine needle to pterygopalatine fossa. Anesthetic ± corticosteroid injection. Duration: 15-20 minutes.

Risks

Epistaxis, infection, nerve injury.

Recovery

Variable effect, may be repeated.

Practical information

Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
