Background

Acute cholecystitis in patients too frail for surgery.

Procedure

US-guided drain through liver into gallbladder. Duration: 20 minutes.

Risks

Biloma, hepatic bleeding, drain displacement.

Recovery

Bile output monitoring. Drain removal after resolution or later cholecystectomy.

Practical information

Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
