What does this intervention involve?
Background
Hemorrhagic/high-risk varices not controllable by endoscopy alone.
Procedure
Transjugular (via TIPS) or percutaneous transhepatic access. Coils/glue injected. Duration: 1-3 hours.
Risks
Material migration, varix recurrence, access complications.
Recovery
2-3 day stay. Follow-up endoscopy.
Practical information
Local anesthesia. Hospital stay: 2 to 3 nights.
