What does this intervention involve?

Background and indications

Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) is a chronic elbow tendinopathy. Embolization is a recent therapeutic option offered after prolonged failure of conservative treatments (rest, physiotherapy, injections).

Benefits

Minimally invasive treatment targeting inflammatory neovascularization, outpatient procedure.

Procedure

A catheter is guided to elbow arteries. Branches showing abnormal neovascularization near the epicondyle are embolized with small particles. Duration: approximately 1 hour.

Risks

Transient pain, hematoma, skin injury (exceptional).

Recovery and follow-up

Same-day discharge. Gradual activity resumption. Clinical follow-up at 1-3 months.

Practical information

Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
