What does this intervention involve?
Background
Refractory ascites requiring repeated paracentesis (>2/month).
Procedure
Tunneled drain with Dacron cuff placed under local anesthesia. Duration: 30-45 minutes.
Risks
Peritonitis, drain obstruction, local pain.
Recovery
Patient education. Home drainage 2-3 times weekly.
Practical information
Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
