What does this intervention involve?
Background
Prolonged IV chemotherapy, antibiotics, parenteral nutrition or repeated blood draws.
Procedure
US-guided arm vein puncture, catheter advanced to SVC. X-ray position verification. Duration: 20-30 minutes.
Risks
Infection, venous thrombosis, malposition, phlebitis.
Recovery
Weekly catheter maintenance. Removal when treatment complete.
Practical information
Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
