What does this intervention involve?

Background

ESRD patients requiring hemodialysis awaiting fistula maturation or when fistula is not feasible.

Procedure

US-guided jugular vein puncture, catheter tunneled subcutaneously. Duration: 30-45 minutes.

Risks

Infection (main risk), thrombosis, central venous stenosis, malposition.

Recovery

Verification X-ray. Pre-dialysis catheter care. Infection sign monitoring.

Practical information

Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
