Background

Osteoporotic stress fracture of the sacrum causing disabling low back pain.

Procedure

Similar to vertebroplasty with needle positioning in sacral ala under CT/fluoroscopy.

Risks

Cement leak into sacral foramina (radiculopathy risk), bleeding.

Recovery

Rapid discharge.

Practical information

Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
