What does this intervention involve?

Background

IVC compression/stenosis (post-thrombotic, tumoral, membranous) causing leg edema, ascites or Budd-Chiari syndrome.

Procedure

Catheter via femoral/jugular vein. Balloon dilation and stent deployment. Duration: 1-2 hours.

Risks

Stent thrombosis, migration, pulmonary embolism.

Recovery

Anticoagulation. Follow-up Doppler at 1 month.

Practical information

Local anesthesia. Outpatient procedure (return home the same day).
